Wow, a major winter storm rolled across the Plaines states toward the Northeast over the last few days. It was 20 years to the day when a similar Halloween Blizzard named the “The Perfect Storm” headed north from Texas crossing Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin and Upper Michigan on its way to Canada and the north Atlantic. So, we are switching gears here at Uth Stuph and the UPS truck is loading up with custom Christian long-sleeve shirts, hoodies and beanies headed for deliveries across the U.S.

We would love to help you get ready for your group’s early winter activities by printing custom shirts with a cool new winter design or embroidering jackets with you group’s logo. Give us a call and put us to work for you.

Often overlooked, embroidery can be an amazing way of incorporating identity on a variety of functional apparel items. In addition, embroidery thread has the advantage of not fading upon washing, so the finished graphic can look brand new for years to come. This is certainly a plus when budget is a factor. Here are some tips on selecting embroidered items and some unique ways to use embroidery for a clean, crisp, versatile look.

Generally when people think of embroidered apparel, they think of logoed polo shirts or corporate button-down shirts. The possibilities with embroidery go much further. The best way to go about deciding what kind of apparel to embroider on is to look at the needs of the group. If your school’s business club is working an outdoor event, consider embroidering baseball caps. If your youth group is going on a ski trip, consider doing beanies or fleece scarves showcasing the ministry name. Stadium blankets embroidered with your group’s logo make great Christmas gifts for booster club members or ministry volunteers.

Embroidery has the advantage of always giving a very clean<ins datetime="2011-10-14T16:04" cite="mailto:Angela.Gallogly">,</ins> professional appearance. Our clients utilize embroidered apparel for business casual days in a corporate setting, different-colored staff and volunteer shirts as part of weekend security programs at churches, promotional activities like golf tournaments, and recognition programs like sports banquets.

When choosing someone to embroider your items, here are some important questions to ask:

What is your digitizing fee? This is the cost of recreating your design to a digital file that can be uploaded to the sewing machine. What is your stitch count minimum and maximum? This will determine the overall cost and size of embroidery. How long have you been in this business? A good embroiderer will know tricks of the trade that can only be gained with time on the job.

Understanding your group’s needs and knowing the right questions to ask will help you select an experienced custom apparel company. Uth Stuph’s Embroidery Manager, Steve Mason, has over 9 years of embroidery experience, and our Project Advisors can guide you through the process of designing and selecting custom embroidered apparel for a crisp, clean, versatile look.

Familiar sights, scents and sounds are all around – roadside pumpkin stands bustling with activity, apples and cinnamon warming on the stove, leaves crunching on the sidewalk. It’s Autumn, and your annual Fall retreat is just around the corner. Equipping your group with a Fall Retreat design on custom Christian t‑shirts or sweatshirts is a great way to build unity among retreat participants. Planning for custom apparel begins with designs that make your shirts unique and eye catching. We also recommend considering the retreat environment, purpose of the shirts and type of apparel that will make your group’s shirts relevant and current.

Start with thinking about where your retreat will occur. A Campground, retreat center or maybe a rustic lodge. Every place has a different feel and experience, and your apparel should communicate that. Consider choosing a design with the environment in mind which will carry your retreat’s theme into the group’s identity. Next, decide whether you want your shirt to be a “one-time” event shirt with a date and location impression, or if you would prefer your shirt be an evangelistic tool to be worn for years to come. Generally for youth groups, a shirt designed to be worn for a long time has to be trendy and something the students will want to wear to school and around their friends. Either type of shirt should be a great conversation starter and will result in connecting people.

Finally, select the type of apparel that is most versatile for your event and future use. Depending on your locale, a Fall retreat may mean very different kinds of weather or climates. No worries! When it comes to apparel, there are literally thousands of options to outfit your group properly. Pullover hoodies, long-sleeve shirts, t-shirts, tanks, zippered hoodies and much more. Carefully choosing apparel will apparel will ensure those attending the event will be comfortable and be able to concentrate on the purpose of the retreat. Of course, affordability is always a concern. Uth Stuph’s apparel is available in many different styles so that your group can be comfortable and stylish without breaking your budget.

One last suggestion. Consider getting your custom apparel in your group’s hands before the retreat. It will help set the tone and raise excitement about the upcoming event.

Now, the leaves are beginning to turn, and you are equipped with the knowledge you need to choose the best Fall retreat apparel your group has ever had. With that, go enjoy each other’s company, unify the group with custom Christian t-shirts or sweatshirts and have a fantastic Fall retreat!

Fall festivals are in full swing this time of year, taking place at churches all across the country. Steeped in tradition, these festivals are fantastic outreach activities that raise community awareness of local churches, are family oriented and raise funds. With seasonal themes and full family involvement, incorporating a high-quality screen printed t-shirt into your Fall festival can be easy, generate a profit for your ministry and unify everyone involved in the event.

Fall festival t-shirts used as identity wear by event organizers and volunteers provide festival goers a sense of unity. From a visual standpoint, t-shirts also make staff and workers recognizable to guests and attendees. There is just something about a person in uniform! We commonly print custom Christian t-shirts with a themed design, then print the word “Staff” or “Volunteer” on the back, right chest or sleeves. The additional printing cost is minimal, yet takes event management to a whole new level.

Some churches purchase Fall festival-themed shirts from Uth Stuph as giveaways. Others use them as door prizes. But most use them as a promotion and fundraising activity. When selling shirts, your first step is picking a design that is relevant to your event. This design should appeal to your widest demographic and be visually interesting so people will wear it for years to come.

Once you have a fantastic design, your next step to fundraising with shirts is merchandising. We recommend getting a couple upper-half mannequins to display the shirts in a high-traffic area at your event. Neatly fold the remaining shirts for sale and attach a tag about the size of the business card with the event logo on one side and an explanation of the inspiration behind the shirt design. By using a garment tagging gun and a custom tag, you will add an extra level of exclusivity to your shirt and provide for a selling price of at least 2 to 2.5 times your cost. Unsold shirts are easily marketed after the event through an email blast to your congregation suggesting they purchase one of the few remaining commemorative festival t-shirts.

The staff at Uth Stuph wish you all the best in building community and spreading the Word at your festival and hope our Christian t-shirt designs will help make your event one of a kind.
